# Iron & Oak logo kit

The approved name is **Iron & Oak**, with a space on each side of the ampersand. Lettering uses **Bitter SemiBold (600)** from Google Fonts. The supplied tree-and-house symbol is preserved from the existing vector trace.

Open **index.html** for a browsable file gallery, or **logo-family-preview.png / .pdf** for the overview.

## Choose a version

| Version | Best use | Suggested minimum screen width |
|---|---|---:|
| Horizontal combined | Website header, letterhead, signage | 220 px |
| Wordmark | Compact website header, footer, film credit | 140 px |
| Stacked combined | Cover, square composition, presentation | 220 px |
| Original symbol | Avatar, watermark, architectural branding | 96 px |
| I&O monogram | Small graphic accent | 64 px |
| IO micro monogram | Browser favicon | 16 px |

These are practical recommendations, not rigid brand rules. Check the actual output, especially on textured or photographic backgrounds. The original symbol contains fine window and branch cutouts that become less distinct at small sizes.

**Black** and **white** in a filename refer to the artwork color. All files in `svg/`, `png/` and `pdf/` have no background. White artwork may look blank on a white preview; place it on a dark surface.

- SVG: preferred for Framer and scalable digital use. All logo lettering is converted to paths; no font installation or external font request is needed.
- PNG: transparent raster artwork, 2400 px wide (symbol files are 2048 px wide).
- PDF: vector artwork for layout and print handoff. These are RGB vector assets, not a press-specific CMYK/bleed package. Ask the print vendor to set final production specifications.
- `source/`: original symbol trace, unmodified Bitter font and its SIL Open Font License.

## Website use

For a dark header, use `svg/iron-and-oak-horizontal-white.svg`; for a light header, use the black version. Both have a **777 × 182 viewBox**, a **4.269:1** ratio. Keep that ratio when sizing. At 220 px wide the height is about 52 px.

For a compact header, choose the wordmark: **524 × 111**, a **4.721:1** ratio. At 160 px wide the height is about 34 px. Do not squeeze the combined logo into the original template's 120 px slot; use the wordmark or widen the slot.

Leave breathing room around the artwork, ideally at least half the height of the capital I. Do not stretch, add outlines, change individual parts' colors, or fill the transparent windows with a separate color.

## Favicons and app icons

The default favicon is a compact **IO** abbreviation in Bitter, chosen to keep the two initials legible at 16 px. The full **I&O** monogram is included as a separate logo asset. These are supplementary small-size options, not a replacement for the full brand name.

`favicons/` contains:

- `favicon.ico`: embedded 16, 32 and 48 px images.
- `favicon.svg`: scalable default icon.
- `favicon-16x16.png`, `favicon-32x32.png`, `favicon-48x48.png`.
- `apple-touch-icon.png`: 180 × 180, opaque square artwork.
- `android-chrome-192x192.png`, `android-chrome-512x512.png`: opaque square artwork.
- `site.webmanifest`: optional static-site manifest. Its image paths assume the app-icon PNGs are placed in the website root; adjust the paths if hosted elsewhere.
- `favicon-full-symbol.svg` and `full-symbol-*.png`: original tree-and-house alternative, best from 32 px upward. At browser size, it reads chiefly as a silhouette.

For Framer, upload the selected icon in the site's favicon settings; the full static-site manifest is optional and is not required to use the artwork.

## Social avatars

`social/` contains light and dark square avatars using the original symbol (SVG and 1024 px PNG). Background colors are **#F5F3EC** and **#151816**.

## Source and fidelity

The mark remains a trace of the user-supplied raster reference. It was not redesigned or reconstructed from architectural geometry; slight irregularities inherited from that source remain. Production files contain the same original symbol path, only translated, uniformly scaled and recolored.
